The Canceled O.J. Special

Though I'm fervently hoping that both the O.J. and "Kramer Gone Crazy" stories go far, far away very soon and am loathe to blog about either, I did find this column interesting.

Totally naive, in so many ways (Fox canceled the show because of shame? Riiiiight), but entertaining if only for the comparison of Rupert Murdoch to a three-year old that hits his brother.

Now, in this metaphor, are we the parental units, or the brother? Or the neighbors who can't figure out what the heck's going on with that dysfunctional family next door...

All My Children is Socially Relevant

Not a sentence used very often (well, you know, seriously):

After taking on a role in the musical "Taboo," actor Jeffrey Carlson has signed on to play a transgendered character in the U.S. soap, "All My Children."

When Carlson embraces his new role Thursday on the popular TV series as Zarf, it will mark the first time a transgendered character will be featured on a daytime series, Playbill.com reported.

"'All My Children' has a long standing commitment to telling socially relevant stories that entertain and inform," series exec Julie Hanan Carruthers said. "Viewers can expect a heartfelt story between two people who share a common ground, yet learn about inherent differences and understanding. At its core, this is a story of acceptance and love."

And, like, evil twins or something, right? I mean, this is still daytime TV...

The Office Recap

I really, really hope someone posts a clip of "Future Dwight" on YouTube. *sigh*

The Stamford office is officially closed now, Jim's heading back to Scranton (with new love triangle prospect in tow), Pam is excited (but trying not to show it), Dwight still has a job, and Michael is...still Michael.

Anyone think Jim should date the Stamford girl, or did I just lose all blog-cred?

The show will go on for "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," despite its failure to lure viewers.

NBC said Thursday it has ordered an additional nine episodes of the backstage drama from "The West Wing" creator Aaron Sorkin for a full season's worth of shows, or 22 weeks.

Britney, Post-Federline

The big news is the divorce (I'm shocked, shocked I tell you...), but dig a little deeper and you get the truly golden details:

1. Britney broke up with Kevin by texting him "I Wnt 2 Dvrce U." (If true, my nomination for best text message ever.)

2. The View audience cheered the announcement.

3. Britney takes off for Miami while Kevin tries to regroup. Quote from K-Fed's lawyer? "I think Kevin's doing pretty well, considering this disastrous situation. But I believe something good will come out of this." Like a nice fat fee...

Ah, that hopelessly potent Federline...

Lost Episode 3 & The "Others"

USA Today has an article this morning about Season 3's ubiquitous "others:"

This season's Others story line is creating a new population boom on Lost.

In tonight's episode (ABC, 9 ET/PT), the series finally reconnects with established characters Locke (Terry O'Quinn), Charlie (Dominic Monaghan), Claire (Emilie de Ravin), Eko (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Hurley (Jorge Garcia) and Desmond (Henry Ian Cusick), absent since May's cliffhanger.

"We feel like Jay Leno, who has a garage full of fancy cars and can only drive one every day," says executive producer Carlton Cuse. "We have a garage full of fancy, wonderful actors, and we just don't have as much time to drive each one as much as we want to."

The "others" are definitely the focus right now, which only makes sense, but I will be looking forward to finding out exactly what happened to Locke. The most interesting tidbit from the article?

The producers promise that all will get their due -- and that more characters will be introduced and others will return.

Makes you wonder who they're talking about...

Tonight's episode is entitled "Further Instructions." There's a brief synopsis over at the ABC Lost site.

30 Rock Premiere & The Office

Good reviews so far for NBC's 30 Rock:

What Fey manages to do with this large crew is both share the spotlight and increase the wattage. Like the best TV comedies - from "Seinfeld" to "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," and all the way back to "The Jack Benny Program" - "30 Rock" sparkles not just because its central star gets to shine, but because everyone does. And it doesn't need a laugh track. Watching at home, I guarantee, you'll supply your own.

I can't wait -- sounds like a nice intro to The Office, which is also gloriously laugh-trackless. Tonight's episode?

Michael forces his staff to attend grief counseling after the death of his former regional manager.

I'm imagining the very worst. If you're looking for more Office stuff before tonight's episode, check out Dwight's blog. A sample entry?

I don't 'hate' salmon. I really, really, really 'DONT LIKE' salmon.

Just a clarification. I recieved hundreds (literally TWO!) e-mails from people who actually like salmon and we're furious with me for insulting their stinky, pink, pukey fish.

If you like salmon so much why don't you go read the blog of one! Not possible. Salmon don't keep blogs. They're too stupid.

Point made.

Indeed.
