Maybe it's because we're close to Election Day. Or that it's Sweeps.

Tonight's episode carried the theme of family through the main plotline into its two subplots.

Betty's father, Ignacio, (Tony Plana) has come clean to his daughters about being an illegal. Both Betty and Hilda (Ana Ortiz) band together to raise a $20K retainer for a immigration lawyer.
Here's how we're gonna roll today: First an episode wrapup. Then some general thoughts on the show.

This week's episode was hard-working. It expertly used its crisis du jour to do two things at once: deepening its characters and story development of the series' great mystery -- what happened to Fey, Mode's last editor.

If The Devil Wears Prada was seen by over 30 million Americans (domestic gross was $358 million), you can bet there's an overlap with Ugly Betty's viewers. In the second episode of the new series, we were introduced to the concept that a fashion magazine's Bible is The Book, a mock-up of the upcoming issue's content. Except, anyone who saw Prada (or read it) knows precisely what this is, and how no good can come of it. Does this familiarity help awareness, or make the plot device instantly passe?
