When MediaVillage.com first found out that The Nine was put on "temporary" hiatus from the ABC schedule, we set out on a quest to save the show. We obviously weren't alone, as we received numerous SoundOffs from our readers hoping to save The Nine. In addition, we have a poll on our homepage, and at the time of publication, 80.9% of our readers voted to save the show.

Someone needs to sit you down and give it to you straight. Better yet, someone needs to stand you up and give you a reality slap to the head. Since restraining orders are really more trouble than they're worth, I'll save us all some paperwork and deliver that slap verbally.

ABC has announced that it's pulling The Nine from its schedule starting with the November 29 episode. This is so cruel because the show just returned November 22. This is one of the best shows of the new season. I had all episodes on the HD DVR until I had to send it back for a new one and am missing only episodes 1-3 on the other DVR.

The creators of The Nine must empathize with the pain Ashlee Simpson felt when she penned the classic ballad "Living in the Shadow," a.k.a. "I Am Not My Sister." No matter how they tell their story, there's always some pesky commentator comparing The Nine to Lost. It's gotten so bad that people still don't believe the two shows are different even after executive producer Alex Gravesspoke out about the annoying comparison.

Everywhere I look people are calling this or that show "The Number One" whatever of the fall season. I lost track somewhere after Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip and before Ugly Betty. It heartens me to see so many scripted shows garnering early acclaims, but the available labels have become meaningless. I won't say The Nine is the Best, the Greatest, or the Numero Uno new program out there. Instead, I only want to tell you that it makes me say "gimme, gimme, gimme" despite my lukewarm feelings about its website.

When I first heard about ABC's new drama series, The Nine, I was excited for two reasons:

1. As anyone who's anyone knows, the hot new trend in television titles for the fall is to include a number in the show's name. This holds especially true for any program about late-night comedy sketch shows.
