SVU trotted out a parade of guest stars and recurring characters in last night's season finale, the events of which are sure to change more than a few character's lives.

Ludacris reprised his role as the half brother of Finn's son, Ken. He is about to go to trial, accused of murdering a young woman. His trial is getting intense media coverage because it is known that he is related to Fin. Nancy Grace and Star Jones are seen several times debating the merits of the case on "The Nancy Grace Show" and hordes of reporters accost the team each day on the way into work.

Olivia learned this week that little brothers can be a whole heap of trouble sometimes (My apologies to any "Loyal Subjects of Garfield Goose" demeaned by this statement.) Now that O knows she has a little brother, she needs to find out all she can about him. Elliot finds her staking out his house in Jersey one night, figures out what she's up to, and agrees to stay with her and help. A couple of NJ uniformed cops come upon them there and wonder what the heck they're doing. They're keeping an eye on this guy too, we learn, because he is a suspect in several stalking and break-in cases. Olivia and Elliot are reprimanded by the Captain in NJ AND by their own captain, for sticking their noses where they don't belong.

We're not sure.. but I think so. At one point, while working hard on this week's case, Elliot is told to take a break and "Go Home." He gets a look on his face, a kind of wistful smirk that made me think HE was thinking, "Yeah, I think I will, now that I have something to go home to again. " Of course, at that moment, more evidence on the case comes in and he has to stay at work anyway. (Isn't that always how it goes? )

No more worries about whether we will have to endure an SVU without Olivia and Elliot. Late last week, Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay signed a new deal keeping them both on the show for 2 more seasons, and with a nice raise. Reportedly, they will each be making more than $330,000 an episode, which makes Mariska the highest paid actress on TV and puts Chris close to the top. (The top paid actor being, I must say I was surprised... Charlie Sheen of Two and a Half Men. I thought for sure it'd be Kiefer "Action Jack" Sutherland.)

Dani departed the SVU this week as we knew we would: Having learned that getting too close, to the cases and to your partner, can burn you.

The case this week involved two kids, a boy and a girl, being transported back to the adoption agency after a bad experience at the foster home. The girl is played by Elle Fanning, who is showing talent equal to that of her big sister, Dakota. She did a great job in a House episode last season and was equally good and compelling to watch in this episode.

There were dead teenage prostitutes, an evil pimp, a natural mom that cares too little and foster moms that care and pay the price, but did any of us care about any of that?
